A Few Words From Our New CEO

At the end of another important year of supporting people in Ayrshire affected by cancer, thank you for your incredible commitment in helping us achieve the opening of our Ayr Centre. "

I’m almost 6 months in post now and delighted to be leading an organisation that delivers cancer support to the very highest standards. Care that is professional, individualised, holistic, and comprehensive.

What’s struck me on joining the organisation is the commitment and dedication of the Ayrshire community. Our volunteers are exceptional and they continually contribute to high quality service delivery. The same commitment and dedication is evident from our supporters. From local businesses to community groups, individuals to families, it’s the incredible efforts of the Ayrshire community that allow us to deliver and grow our services. I hope you take pride in this.

It’s been a busy year for Ayrshire Cancer Support, most notably with the completion of the new Ayr Centre; a capital project which was completed on time and under budget, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, and the professional support of local contractors and businesses. The Ayr Centre has welcoming drop-in areas, complementary therapy rooms, counselling rooms, and a garden, plus a whole area designed by, and for, Children & Young People. It’s a beautiful space which is non-clinical, safe and supportive.

Our outgoing Chief Exec, Sandra McCall has done the most incredible job of laying very solid foundations on which to build, throughout her 15 years of service. It’s a real privilege to be part of the staff team, and I thank my colleagues for working as hard as they do.

Finally, thank you for your committed and generous support at Christmas. It’s not always an easy time of year either financially or emotionally, so I thank you sincerely for anything you are able to give which means we can continue to support local people affected by cancer.
