Despite coronavirus we are delighted to announce we have hit our Phase One target of raising £350,000 to purchase a new cancer support centre in Ayr, #Home4Cancer. The centre will aim to develop our existing work to include essential support services for children and young people affected by, or bereaved through, cancer. Phase Two fundraising, to raise a final £400,000, now begins in earnest to adapt a suitable building and create specialist areas for children, young people and adults.

The first phase of the fundraising target was met thanks to the fundraising efforts of many individuals and businesses in the local area and when our small centre in Ayr was sold last month. Unfortunately we have missed out on a couple of buildings that might be suitable, so shall continue our search to turn our dream into reality.

As Ayrshire’s leading cancer support charity, we recognise the gap in provision for psychological and emotional support services for children and young people affected by cancer – and in particular those whose lives have been disrupted through the diagnosis or bereavement of a parent. It is our aim to raise sufficient funds to ensure no child or young person goes without the practical and emotional support that we currently provide to adults. This development will involve professional therapists who specialise in supporting children and young people.

Coronavirus has delayed some of our plans, but with your help, we will ensure we continue to support anyone affected by cancer in Ayrshire.
