A few words from our CEO

Welcome to our Summer Newsletter

On behalf of Ayrshire Cancer Support, I would like to thank everyone who has supported us, and who continues to support us, in providing free cancer support services to our local communities – your efforts and donations make a huge difference every single day.

I would also like to take this opportunity to inform you, that after a great deal of thought, I have made the difficult decision to retire later this year, to allow me to spend some much-needed time with my family and friends.

I have very mixed feelings about my decision, however, my time here has been so rewarding, and it has been my absolute pleasure to work with the charity over the past fifteen years; the first four as a volunteer Board Member then eleven as CEO.

Ayrshire Cancer Support has grown enormously over the past decade with the opening of new, purpose designed, support centres in Kilmarnock and Ayr, and it has been a pleasure to watch the services expand and new partnerships form with other service providers such as Prostate Scotland, Breast Cancer Now, and Myeloma UK, to name only a few.

had the pleasure and privilege of recently attending a Reception held by The King and Queen at Buckingham Palace to recognise and celebrate community-based initiatives that raise awareness about cancer and support those living with cancer.

It was an honour to attend on behalf of all the staff and volunteers of Ayrshire Cancer Support, past and present, who work together compassionately to deliver our vital free services.

Our community is, and always has been, at the very heart of everything we do and I’m delighted to see the charity recognised in this way.

Please use our free services, where required, spread the word to anyone who may need our help, and continue to support us in any way you can.

With my grateful thanks and warmest wishes,

Sandra McCall
