Items we are unable to accept

We appreciate you thinking of Ayrshire Cancer Support when choosing where to donate your pre-loved items. Thank you for taking the time to review the items we are unable to accept below. Please note: within all categories, we are not able to sell any items that are damaged, not working or with missing parts.

Children & Baby Items


We can no longer accept any children or baby items, clothing or toys. This includes:


  • Car seats and booster seats


  • Cots, cot mattresses, Moses baskets, cribs and playpens


  • Highchairs, baby bouncing chairs, baby walkers, 'jumparoos'


  • Prams and buggies

Furniture & Housewares


  • Large, or excessively heavy, items of furniture, e.g., sofas, beds etc. If unsure please call us first to discuss


  • Upholstered furniture without a fire label (including items without labels that are part of sets.) For vintage furniture please contact us directly to discuss


  • Soiled or excessively stained upholstered furniture


  • Wall units from 1970s - 1990s/display cabinets


  • Glass or Formica TV units


  • Computer desks


  • Pillows and duvets (unless brand new and in sealed original packaging)


  • Cushions without fire safety labels


  • Mattresses


  • Carpets


Dangerous Items


  • Gas appliances, oil lamps


  • Cigarette lighters and cigarette lighter refill canisters


  • Camping stoves


  • Knives (full sets of cutlery or vintage cutlery can be accepted)


  • Candles without instructions


  • Fireworks


Weapons


  • Knives


  • Swords, sword sticks, crossbows


  • Guns and ammunition (including replica guns)


Heating & Cooking


  • Gas appliances (mains or bottled goods)


  • Oil filled radiators (not supplied with a thermostat)


  • Storage heaters (hardwired)


  • Oil

Electrical Items


  • Personal appliances such as shavers, foot spas etc (unless unused and in sealed box)


  • Appliances with damaged parts or any sign of overheating or electrical fire


  • Electric blankets/heat pads


  • Electric showers


  • Sunbeds and tanning equipment


  • Waste disposal units


  • Appliances without a power cable


  • Power tools without instructions


  • Video players and camcorders


  • Fax machines and older model PC printers


  • Microwave ovens

White Goods


  • Washing machines and tumble dryers


  • Fridges, freezers, fridge/freezers

Sport & Safety Equipment


  • Buoyancy aids - life jackets, inflatable dinghies, inflatable toys for water


  • Safety helmets - riding hats, crash helmets, cycle helmets

  • Counterfeit DVDs or CDs


  • Home recorded DVDs, video and audio tapes


  • Home recorded computer games and software on recordable CDs and DVDs


Miscellaneous


  • Counterfeit goods, e.g., bags, purses, jewellery, clothing


  • Single use plastic, e.g., picnic plates, cutlery, straws


  • Medication including vitamins


  • Perishable goods, food and drink


  • Prescription spectacles


  • Toiletries and cosmetics (unless unused and sealed)


  • Cleaning agents, solvents, adhesives


  • Items made from ivory


  • Real fur or fur trimmed items


  • Petrol or diesel fuelled garden tools including lawn mowers, strimmers etc.
