Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy can greatly enhance the quality of life for people with cancer.

Aromatherapy is an ancient art, which combines a soothing massage with the use of essential oils that can enhance the mind, body and spirit and provide a very relaxing, pleasant treatment. Essential oils contain many healing and beneficial properties, which may be either relaxing or invigorating, depending on the essences chosen and they make full use of our most important senses – smell and touch.

A full consultation is carried out before treatment to give background information to the practitioner. As a result, essential oils are selected and the treatment is tailored specifically for each person. Although the recipient will be required to uncover parts of the body for the massage, this is carried out discreetly, in privacy.

It can promote overall relaxation which is highly beneficial in combating stress. Afterwards the client leaves feeling so much better mentally as well as physically.

Conditions which can benefit from Aromatherapy:

Stress, headache, migraine, menstrual problems, arthritis, fluid retention (oedema), cellulite, muscular aches and pains, insomnia and depression.

Reflexology

Reflexology can greatly enhance the quality of life for people with cancer.

Reflexology is a therapeutic massage that works on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet and hands which are directly connected to each organ and every part of the body, and that by stimulating these reflexes the body is brought to balance.

The feet and ankles are massaged, sometimes the hands and wrists. Essential oils are never used in Reflexology.

Reflexology can promote overall relaxation, stimulating the circulation, nerve and glandular systems to help to restore natural balance throughout the body, and eliminate toxins. The massage itself can soothe and relieve muscle tension.

Conditions which can benefit from Reflexology:

Stress, muscular problems, circulatory problems, ailments of the stomach and colon, respiratory congestion, glandular imbalances, kidney and liver complaints, pre-menstrual problems, prostate and sleeping difficulties.

Hypnotherapy/Relaxation

Hypnotherapy is a technique to help people into a deep state of relaxation. This relaxation is a very natural, calm state in which positive, beneficial suggestions are accepted more readily by the unconscious mind. Hypnotherapy helps people get in touch with the resources they already have; positive changes can be very quick to appear and feel very natural.

Hypnotherapy is usually carried out on a one to one basis although huge benefits can be gained from group relaxation and visualisation.

Clients are encouraged to use the techniques learned from relaxation purposes at home.

Hypnotherapy can be beneficial for many things including, confidence building, stress relief, stopping smoking, pain control, weight issues, fears and phobias.

We also provide simple relaxation classes.

Reiki

Reiki is a gentle but powerful “hands on” technique, which restores the natural balance in the body. It provides deep relaxation thus evoking a sense of peace and well being. It works on the emotions, mind and spirit as well as the physical body. It complements but does not substitute the healing properties of all modalities, including orthodox medical treatment, natural therapies, massage, physiotherapy etc. It can be given in conjunction with any other treatment.

A Reiki treatment stimulates the immune system, reduces stress and inflamation, can reduce/relieve pain, especially chronic pain, by bringing the body to balance. A Reiki treatment is safe, non intrusive and non manipulative.

A full treatment takes approximately one hour. You may fall asleep, be silent or talk. During a Reiki treatment you lie on a table fully clothed, covered with a blanket. The practitioners’ hands are placed in specific sequence of positions on your head, front and back.

They gently rest in each position for between three and five minutes. After the treatment your body will be releasing toxins, so please drink plenty of water.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage includes the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, head and face, or any combination of these. Oil can be used on the scalp as an option. It is given with clothes on, in a comfortably seated position and takes approximately 35 minutes.

It can be very relaxing, it helps create feelings of well being, peace and calm, balancing the mind, body and spirit. It also helps clients to cope better with the stresses and strains of life. The first visit will involve a consultation and will therefore take a little longer.

If you are undergoing any specific treatment, please discuss this with your medical practitioner. The treatment is offered as being complementary to traditional medicine, not as an alternative to it or a cure.
