Spirit Aerosystems Annual Charity Burns Supper
There was a true sense of ‘Team Spirit’ at the recent Charity Burns Supper hosted by Spirit AeroSystems at the Ayrshire Suite, Ayr Racecourse. Employees, suppliers and local VIP’s joined the festivities to raise funds for the employee-nominated charities – Ayrshire Cancer Support and Cancer Help Preston.
The night began with a rendition of an ‘Address to the Haggis’ by Allan Rodger, a keen Burns Speaker and host for the evening. Following a delicious 5-course meal, Allan continued to entertain us with his own rendition of Tam O’Shanter. Allan’s wife, Wilma, was quick to join in with a unique performance of ‘Kate O’Shanter’ complete with audition participation! The theme of the evening was around Burns famous poem ‘Tae a Moose’ and Ronnie McNeill kept the guests entertained with an outstanding performance.
The evening quickly began to heat up with an awesome performance by the famous ‘Red Hot Chilli Pipers’. A toe-tapping, hand-clapping, head-spinning audience were on their feet dancing to the ‘bagrock’ versions of ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Flower of Scotland’, ‘Auld Lang Syne’ and much more...
There were some terrific prizes in the raffle donated by Spirit AeroSystems suppliers. A sincere thanks to : Aubert & Duval, PPG, TECT Aerospace, Bullet Express, Triumph Structures Long Island, WL Gore , B/E Aerospace, Weston, Aerofastener, Allfast, Key FM, DSV Air and Sea Ltd, SPS Aerostructures, Alcoa Fastening Systems , Macgregor and MacDuff, Western House, Monks & Crane, Brian Donohoe , Dormer Tools and Spirit AeroSystems for their generosity.
The raffle and the auction of a painting donated by Ayrshire Cancer Support raising £600, contributed to the overall total raised at the event of £8563. Since the partnership with Spirit AeroSystems and Ayrshire Cancer Support began, the employees have raised £27,455.92 and their fund-raising efforts are still going!
Sincere thanks to everyone that supported the event and joined in the fun, while helping to raise money for a good cause.
One last thing... the 2012 event will be held on Friday 9th March at the Ayrshire Suite, Ayr Racecourse, so keep your diaries free!
